Cyrus,
To answer your question in a few short words is this: Pakistan is in the pocket of the Bush administration. Iran as we all know is not. The American idiocy is to think if the person's nationality is from a pro-Bush country than they are the gravy, everyone else is, well, the burnt scraping at the bottom of the pan.

Cryus,
You are correct! Jimmy Carter did make a lot of mistakes with Iran in the 1970's.
But it really started during the Nixon Administration. This is when terrorism started to rear its ugly head with Munich. We Americans gave Iran its nuclear start with the nuclear threat initiative the Nixon administration gave the Shah a nuclear reactor and promised help with the construction of nuclear power plants. In the 1970's the US signed agreements to sell nuclear equipment to Tehran. The same people who agreed to sell this nuclear equipment are still in office today. Namely Vice President Cheney, Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld and the World Bank President Paul Wolfowitz.
In 1979 came the Islamic revolution when friends became foes. Iran began to look to other countries to supply then nuclear conversion equipment and found China willing to sell to Iran. Suspicions about Iran's intentions grew. The biggest mistake we made was to expel every Iranian living in this country. Racism now reared its ugly head. The American idea at that time was arrogant. How dare Iranians hold Americans hostage! So we are going to throw out all Iranians from our country. That will teach them! My friend is married to an Iranian but she insists that we call him Persian for fear of discrimination. What we Americans don't understand is we are the cause of what happened on 911. Our own policies put us on this path to world hatred of Islam. The Media was full of Fear! The government created this suspicion of foreigners. Over and over again they bombarded us with fear. The end result is we are simply afraid of anyone other than an american.
America's international policy for the past 30 years toward the Middle East has not changed. Americans look at Iranians as Arabs and not Persian. They look at all the Middle East as just a desert flock of oil with dirty Arabs as sheepherders. Islam is looked at as a satanic religion. So we send Christian missionaries to try to convert the masses. All the while we continue to be two-faced and promote submission.
We gave Iraq weapons and send advisors to teach them the art of war because they suddenly attacked Iran and then promoted Iraq as our allies. Then ten years later when Iraq invaded Kuwait they became our enemies again. We supplied them the material needed to act on war and then we turn our backs and pretend we did no such thing. It's a game played to not win. There are no winners.
Your situation is not your fault. You simply were born Iranian. You can't change that and you should have too. Cyrus in your heart you know what you are and who you are. But to change American ideas would take our own administration change with strong policy changes. I am an American and I don't hate the world but I hate that the world hates me.
Cyrus, don't think all America is ignorant. There are a lot of us whom want change and come the next election there will be a lot of house cleaning and hopefully we elect leaders with some backbone and expel our current Administration.
